Animatic
An educational NASA animatic created in Photoshop Timeline in a 2D flat graphic style. This pre-production method was used as a test for the final animation drawing style and pacing. The visuals are carefully synchronized with audio voice-over and sound effects.

Storyboard
The pre-production process started off with a storyboard to visualize the voice-over narrative. The first shot begins with an extreme close-up of the stellar object wavelengths to establish context of the animatic. I used a series of cut transitions to communicate a gradual zoom out from the macro view to the full shot of the astral object in space. The hand enters on the second shot and the background fades out to create a shift in point of view to make the viewer feel as though they are grasping the star and “extracting” knowledge for themselves. Finally, the NASA logo fades in.
Style Frames
A selection of styles frames that indicate the art direction and overall concept art of the final animation. I worked with vibrant colors to engage the viewer, inspire creative thinking about science and make the subject feel more accessible. I created digital and hand-drawn illustrations to contrast the vast, clean lines of space with primal humanity reaching for answers.
